De Soto Food Pantry Benefit Concert
Maureen and I had an enjoyable experience at the DeSoto Food Pantry Benefit Concert at the First Baptist Church of Luckey on Saturday night. Music was provided by Carol Sanguinette-How with her 7 piece band of guitars, banjo, tambourine and bass and two quartets Jericho and the Barn Again Gang. Gospel music filled the new sanctuary on Highway Y. Every segment had moments that brought emotional tears to the eyes of many listening. It was uplifting to hear joyful music after testimonies by a singing law enforcement officer who is struggling with personal family grief and another talented singer who was undergoing chemotherapy during a third bout with cancer. After all, we were there to support our local food bank for those having problems in this difficult economy. Presenting an upbeat, spiritual perspective to deal with our personal and civic challenges is what faith-based organizations do best. Thanks to all involved for that.
